Sound Board
The J Dilla Foundation Sound Board was formed at the start of 2010. The Sound Board is a network of Dilla’s musical family and friends that have the Foundation’s goals at heart. Every member on the J Dilla Foundation Sound Board is dedicated to our cause and has agreed to support and promote our goals and initiatives. Members of the Sound Board may also be involved in fundraising efforts and grant/scholarship award selections.
Amp Fiddler – American keyboardist, singer, songwriter and record producer from Detroit. Former member of Parliament Funkadelic & credited with introducing J Dilla to the MPC.
Erykah Badu – Grammy award winning recording artist, record producer and actress.
Busta Rhymes – Hip Hop artist, songwriter & actor. Founding member of Leaders Of The New School & Flipmode Squad.
Q-Tip – hip hop artist, producer, singer, and actor. Founding member of the critically acclaimed group A Tribe Called Quest.
Phife Dawg – hip hop artist & founding member of the critically acclaimed group A Tribe Called Quest.
Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson – Drummer, DJ, music journalist and record producer. Founding member of the Grammy award winning band The Roots.
T3 – Hip Hop artist. Founding member of critically acclaimed Slum Village. Long time friend & collaborator of J Dilla.
DJ HouseShoes – a hip hop producer and DJ. J Dilla’s best friend.
Dwele – soul singer, songwriter and record producer. Long time Slum Village & J Dilla collaborator.
Pete Rock – Critically acclaimed Hip Hop producer, DJ & Rapper. One of J Dilla’s main influences.
Madlib – Grammy nominated DJ, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and music producer
Tom Bacon – Vice President of Marketing at VTech Communications Inc.
Posdnuos – Hip Hop artist. Founding member of critically acclaimed group, De La Soul.
J Rocc – Founding member of turntablism crew, The Beat Junkies.
DJ Rhettmatic – Founding member of turntablism crew, The Beat Junkies.
Peanut Butter Wolf – DJ, hip-hop producer and the founder of hip-hop label Stones Throw Records.
Dream Hampton – Writer/journalist. Detroit native who has written for The Source, Vibe, The Village Voice, Spin, The Detroit News, Harper’s Bazaar, Essence, Parenting and many others.
9th Wonder – Hip Hop/R&B producer who has worked with Little Brother, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Jean Grae, Wale, Jay-Z, MURS, Buckshot, and Destiny’s Child.
Rasta Root – Atlanta based DJ & J Dilla supporter.
B+ – Photographer, Film-maker and co-owner of production house Mochilla
Eric Coleman – Photographer, film-maker, dj and co-owner of production house Mochilla.
Miguel Atwood Ferguson – Violist, DJ, producer & educator.
